Last Thursday, award-winning designer, Terence Woodgate talked about the journey to create a 21st-century design icon.
Hosted by Silvera London, the event has featured Terence Woodgate in conversation with design and style journalist Becky Sunshine, exploring the story behind the iconic table as it reaches its 10th anniversary.
They discussed the processes that Woodgate and Formula One design engineer John Barnard underwent in their search for design perfection. Terence explored the challenges he has faced when creating designs such as the Surface Table and how mistakes, iteration and learning in design have all informed him as a designer.
A true engineering accomplishment, the Surface Table uses state-of-the-art Formula 1 technology to exploit the inherent rigidity and strength of carbon fiber. Terence Woodgate and John Barnard have managed to achieve the impossible, creating a table with 2mm thick edges and a long span of up to 6 meters.
The super-slim composite table is a favorite with collectors due to its unique style, long-lasting materials, innovation, technological edge and skilled craftsmanship.
